eh, goes likes this
the multi-player is the same as the first game. so, if you are like me and got bored of it... well you will still be bored.
the single player is a little more up to date, upgrades, choosing missions etc, with only one innovation( if you can call it that): the ability to walk around and talk to people between missions. and don't get me wrong, I fucking love that, it really does help draw the story together and make the game feel better. The only problem with the single player is the polish, the levels are fun and the challenges challenging; but the writing is... sub par. especially whenever: they try to make Jim seem as country as possible, have the love interest talk or do a news segment.
the story itself is not too bad, if pretty predictable. The ending is satisfying but does make me excited for the next installment. I can't say what I hope happens next without giving away the ending but damn could it be cool.
I would like to make one final point, when starcraft came out it was considered a good game, but a bland rts that was a bit behind the times, with the only unique feature being the three distinct races. 12 years later and the starcraft 2 is the same game as starcraft. which means it's still behind the times for a 12 year old game.
and for those who say that you shouldn't fix what isn't broken, let me say this. if you still like the first game, don't buy the second game, you are not missing a thing.
TLDR: not a bad game just not great either. $60 tag is only worth it if better custom maps come out.
