So this game was made by the people who made galactic civilization 1 and 2.

Gal civ was a civ game (bet you didn't guess that from the name) and was turn based. It was pretty good but not great. I spent a lot of hours playing it and enjoyed it most of the time.

Sins of a solar empire is also a civ game, but it is real time. And oh god it is a thousand times better. The game has really improved in almost every area, and they did a really good job making it real time. The battles are good, they work well, and the empire management is also a lot of fun.

the only gripe I have is with the mission system. The enemy A.I can request that you do a mission. sometimes the missions are horrible, i.e. give us 1000 credits and sometimes they are fun, destroy x number of y enemy things. They reward you for success and hate you for failure. but my main gripe with it is that you can't send them on missions and if you have a AI ally they will remove the treaties between you and it if you don't complete the missions.

over all the game is amazing, I suggest you get it.

also, there is multiplayer (there was none is gal civ) and it is a lot of fun, much better than playing with a.i's

After playing this for a bit I have decided that it is not worth buying.

it lacks the depth of either a rts or a civ game. very sad, considering how much promise it had.

I would almost buy this game based on the trailer alone:

So I am really addicted to Civ 4. I'm not really that good yet but I have been dumping copious amounts of time on it.

So whats Rollachan's opinion of turn based strategy?

Yeah, not all RTSs are like that but I can see where you are coming from, a lot of them kind of have a linear "evolution" to them if you want to call them that. That is why I also tend to like RTSs that have ages and stuff where along side of evolving you also have to reach certain objectives to bring your units into a new age. Kind of like AOE where if you go to a new age you can choose how and which road you chose at that age brings on new units or new advantages and the other path gives you other options and units.

Anyone know anything about this game?

It's out August 20th, if my calculations are correct. And the gameplay looks sexy. Controls look like they are going to be more fps style. Gonna be awesome.

Falling in the lava produces the best sound known to man. Right, Phoenix?

This game came with my new 8800gt. I've installed it but havent really had time to play it yet. Any thoughts, opinions, or people wanting to play?
Got good reviews from what ive read.
>> No. 456
I plan on buying an 8800gt when I rebuild here pretty soon and I saw this deal, I haven't looked into it much myself but I am intrigued to play it.

finally started playing it in the past 24 hours or so. its mostly online based, i mean, there is a single player against the computer, but theres really no "campaign". you just try to complete objectives when you're by yourself. online is rate good fun. theres a bit of a learning curve tho

Its a good game, too bad COD took so much of the playerbase....

Anyone every play it? Or at least read the setting?

I was introduced to it in 2000 and while I found the setting and general concepts amazing, the Palladium RPG system is too 'kludgy' to do it any true justice.

I've heard that some people have made attempts at converting it to D20, Tri-system, or Unisystem and I was wondering if anyone here had as well.

It's horror-genre and one of the basic features of it was creating a character that could change into a super-powered, and often freakish, form.

Wikipedia explains better than I ever could

And there is nothing wrong with roleplaying games.

I'd rather have a 1.0 Ocarina of Time, with the master sword removal glitch still intact.
